Adopt-a-Diamond
Press Release
Houston, TX Diamond Cutters International
(DCI) unveiled its Adopt A Diamond program this week. The
program will allow individuals who cant afford to purchase
a diamond to submit their story at DCIs website, www.diamondcuttersintl.com.
The DCI staff will review the stories, select a monthly winner and
award the couple or individual with a diamond ring.
Often young couples cant afford a
ring if they are in college or just starting their working careers,
explains Fred Cuellar, owner of DCI. Time passes and they
put off that purchase of a ring for house repairs or braces for
their children. These are the people we had in mind when we created
the Adopt A Diamond program.
Diamond Cutters International has been involved
in educating diamond buyers since 1987. In 1996 owner Fred Cuellar,
also known as The Diamond Guy®, penned the best seller, How
to Buy a Diamond and became the diamond expert for a variety
of publications and organizations including Men's Health Magazine,
Icon Magazine, America Online, The Weddingpages, and MSNBC. In 1998
DCI developed the National Diamond Helpline, dispensing free advice
and appraisals on a toll free number. The Helpline is endorsed by
the National Bureau of Fraud Prevention in Washington, DC.
Despite their best efforts we still encounter
individuals who have not gotten the ring they have deserved,
says Cuellar. We feel a certain responsibility for our industry
so we are trying to educate consumers through our books, public
appearances, and our website. DCI is giving away free diamond
education books through various contests on its website.
Engagements, Anniversaries, and romantic
moments are important occasions in peoples lives, adds
Cuellar. If we can make it more special by providing a beautiful
diamond that wasnt within the couples means, we want
to do that.
The Adopt A Diamond program will be featured
on a number of talk shows including the Montel Williams Show, MSNBC,
America Online and Time Warner. Individuals interested in submitting
their story can visit www.diamondcuttersintl.com/adopt.html.
