Family Heirloom disaster
I have own a diamond that is appraised at 13K, it was handed down by my mothers mother; to me. My only son wants it, but he has lost many other family heirlooms. This heirloom is now causing me grief. I am now getting rid of this diamond; Do I get appraisal price on it, or how much?

If you are planning on selling it then yes, get an independent appraisal first. Suggestion: It's possible your son lost other heirlooms because you just gave them to him. Why not sell this ring to him at a price that will make him understand its value? We tend to keep track and not lose the things that we had to work hard to get and are valuable to us.
