Total ring is 1.99ct.

I love my ring and am simply looking for a general estimate / range of value. I am going to try to find another store, but I would like to have a better idea of what value I should expect so we don't have to go through this again.

Im worried…b/c I feel I have no real sense of knowledge or control over the situation, while a lot of his money is at stake.

For the diamond alone, I am paying $7,000.00
The price that first stated was 10,000, then I got them down to 8,200 and I continued to get them down to 7,000.00. Am I getting ripped off? Obviously the original price was inflated, making room to deal. PLEASE HELP!

After reading your book and doing a little additional research, I put together a "specs list" for the diamond I would like to purchase: round, approximately 1.1 carat, I color, SI1 or SI2 and excellent cut… cut is definitely the most important of the Cs to me.
From scouring around the Internet, visiting a few jewelers and referring to the buying guide in your book, it seems the price tag for such a diamond should be around $7,000. Does this seem reasonable?
A very nice man I talked to from your "My Gemologist" department said I would be looking at spending more like $14,000 for such a diamond. Now I'm confused. Where is the price discrepancy coming from?
