I am looking at some color enhanced diamonds. I know they are not great for resale, thats okay. I would never want my man to spend the kind of money a 1 ct. natural blue dimaond would cost, but I want to know, are irradiated blues okay to buy? It would be for my own pleasure, not as an investment. Are the treatments reliable to remain permanent?
Hi Elizabeth, If heat touches the irradiated blue diamond (like from a Jewelers Torch) the diamond will turn brown. So once you get it, you would have to be very careful about any repairs or sizing done to the ring that would transfer heat to the rock and change it brown. –Fred
