Adopt a Diamond Stories

Story from Fatima Campos

The diamond is not for me. My parents deserve the diamond. They were married 23 years ago, in a poverty stricken country named El Salvador. A year later their first adorable child was born… me! Followed by an even more adorable daughter, Rosy. Two years later they were forced to flee from El Salvador due to the Civil War that had already claimed the homes, land and lives of family members. They left everything behind including their parents, siblings, home and a sick child, Rosy, who they could not take to the US because they were scared she would not survive the trip.

Medicine was very difficult to get during the war, and something as treatable as asthma is today claimed Rosy’s life a year after my parents left. They struggled for many years, working and trying to receive citizenship. Finally, they became US citizens! They scraped and saved, always doing without and making sure that their now four children had everything they needed. My brother and sisters and I always had clothes on our back, a roof over our heads, and food on the table, not to mention the unconditional love of our parents. I am now 22 years old, a senior in college and engaged to be married.

My parents will be exchanging their religious vows (they had only been married legally) at the same time that Jose and I will next May. It would be wonderful for my mother to wear a diamond ring on her finger not just to show the strength of the couple that is unified by it, but to also show the love, admiration and adoration that the product of their love has for them.

A Thank You from our Winner

Hello Mr. Cuellar!

I wanted to personally thank you for your kindness and for even considering my parents for this wonderful gift. Granted, I think the world of them and will always be in debt to them for the amazing parents that they are. I must admit that I was extremely surprised to receive your call. I read the stories of the previous winners and after the crying session, and showing everyone in the office about the wonderful thing that you and your company is doing, I just thought that we would be extremely lucky to even be considered.

I can not describe the happiness and sheer joy that my parents had when I told them about the diamond. To tell you the truth, they were just shocked. (I think that I still am!) My mother will definitely wear it proudly on her wedding day, it will show the beauty of a sacred marriage as well as be testimony to the fact that there are still good people in this world. Thank you so much.
