Adopt a Diamond Stories

Story from Venus Simcox

At the age of 22, I had the honor of marrying the love of my life. We have remained married and in love for 8.5 years. When we decided to get married I insisted that I come along to pick my ring out. I knew if he went alone he would undoubtedly pick a ring we could not afford. Upon my arrival and as soon as I approached the counter there it was, I saw my ring. The perfect setting including the perfect combination of white gold and yellow gold. It had accent diamonds surrounding the main diamond. It took my breath away although only 1/4 carat in the center including the accents 1/2 carat total weight. I knew this would be the ring. A year had past, at the start my new life and a new career I lost the center diamond at work. The diamond completely fell out of the setting and because I didn’t continue the maintenance on the ring. The diamond was no longer covered nor did I have any insurance to boot. I took out a loan and purchased another diamond to fill the vacant spot.

As Murphy would have it, that too fell from the setting. I simply could not afford another. It’s sad to say that although my husband a fire fighter and I myself who works for a local police department can not afford to replace my modest 1/4 diamond. We have two daughters a 8yo and a 5yo who are such a blessing. I feel I deserve to adopt a diamond because although we work hard (I alone pulling in 30 hours of overtime in the last two weeks) with two children, school etc. It’s embarrassing to say I can not afford to replace my diamond. I could barely afford to put in a cubic zirconium. I feel as if I’m always the last on the list of more important things. However, I know that’s how it is when you’re a parent. Something will always be more important, and sometimes we have to put or wants and needs as parents on hold. Funny enough after resetting my ring the cubic zirconium has stayed in place for over 4 years.

Thank you for the opportunity to tell my story.

A Thank You from our Winner

When I received the phone call stating I would be the recipient of the adopt a diamond program, several emotions ran through me. At first I was shocked because I thought I wouldn’t win. I felt there were more important people who really deserve this, then I thought this was a cruel joke or maybe I misunderstood what was said.

When I realized this really was indeed true I couldn’t stop crying. Every time I think that I am actually the recipient I cry. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would be able to adopt the diamond.

Words can’t express how I feel, I am grateful and my heart is full. I feel as if God has granted me a gift and that it all means something.

Thank you everyone at Diamond Cutters for helping women feel special by making our dreams come true.
