Hi, My diamond is crystal clear, 1.21 carats. However I had it cleaned and the jeweler showed me, through his loupe, what appeared to be a crack. Not visible with naked eyes. Where did the crack come from and how much does it devalue the stone? Thank you.
Also 10-.05pt diamonds do equal 1/2 carat, is that correct?
Hi Jane,
The crack could of always been there and was just never pointed out to you or the diamond took a hit and cracked. If the crack is not visible to the naked eye and doesn't extend to the interior, I wouldn't worry about it affecting the value very much. Also, ten .05-pt diamonds do equal to 1/2 carat!
